When using paypal can i use my mastercard debit giftcard that i got from someone?

I am trying to add money to my paypal account. i registered my mastercard debit giftcard and it was approved but can i add the money that is on the giftcard to my paypal account without them taking out money, besides whats on the card?

1. Read the instructions on the card for your best answer. My experience with Visa gift cards is that they work just like a debit card. Also check out this source.
2. no, the total on the card is all they can get off of it.
3. Paypal will be able to get only what the card is worth nothing more than that.
