Visa and Mastercards

Are those prepaid master and visa cards acceptable in Mexico?

The gift card ones you buy at checkout at the grocery store... Some of them say good wherever visa/mastercard accepted but the ones for American Express/discover say good at U.S. locations only.

2. Yes, they are good anywhere that a normal visa or mastercard would be accepted in Mexico. I have one of those same cards and always use it there.
3. You answered youself. The ones that say good wherever accepted will be accepted, the ones that say good at US locations only will only work inside the US.
4. Any Visa/MC prepaid card should be OK to use in Mexico. You might want to call the 800 number for customer service and let them know you will be travelling so the fraud department doesn't freak out and BLOCK the card. Just FYI, you can even get a prepaid mastercard in Mexico. They sell them in the checkout at Sorianas.
