Can you use two visa gift cards on one item?

I have one visa gift card with $2.66 left on it. I really don't want to waste that money but I can't find anything that cheap to buy online. I found something I do want though for $8. I plan on buying another card. Can I use the $2.66 towards that item, and then have the other card finish up the rest of the payment? If so, how?

3. Use the other one with 2.66 to buy the new one and then just pay for the difference. Problem solved.
4. Most businesses have a POS (register) that will allow "split payment". This means you can use different forms of payment, and sometimes the same form of payment, but different accounts, like different gift cards or two different credit cards for the same purchase. Short answer: it is up to the merchant and what kind of system they use. Some merchants will also let you "refill" and existing card. So if you are looking to add $8.00, you might want to see if they can put it on the smae card. Good luck!
