Visa and Mastercards

Is Visa or MasterCard accepted more places outside of the US?

I travel a lot from my home in the US, and want to be sure I have a card that is accepted in most places. Am I better off getting a Visa or a MasterCard? I notice that MasterCard seems to be more aggressive with the deals lately, but I had heard that Visa was more widely accepted.

1. mastercard and visa are both accepted in Australia :)
2. I don't think there is much difference. I've found American Express better to use overseas. They don't charge all the international fees that the others do.
3. Visa has more cards in circulation but typically if a place accepts one then they take the other as well. So really it's whatever you prefer.
4. Both the cards are equally popular but make sure before touring outside US that your card should be International.
5. All over the world they are accepeted. But be carefull because in some places they copy your code. You can even draw local money from distributors.
